I Like Mike,

I love America, and I don't have time for this hores&*t!

My oldest daughter inherited my affinity for attention.

From her toddler years into early adolescence, she was a complete ham.

She sought the spotlight so frequently that her mother and I, not wanting to make our daughter self-conscious, devised a cryptic acronym to describe her antics.

H-LAM stood for “Hey, look at me.”

Over time, it got to the point that her mother regularly felt compelled to point out, “Meg, you’re being an H-LAM.”

While neither of us ever used the long form of “hey, look at me,” H-LAM was employed quite often. So much so that Meghan eventually mistook it for an actual vocabulary word.

I became aware of that fact when, one day, when she was about six or so, I heard her chiding her younger brother, “Danny, stop being an H-LAM.”

Last Friday, three Republican members of Congress went full H-LAM.

Republican Representatives Thomas Massie (KY), Ralph Norman (SC), and Keith Self (TX)

Seemingly unconcerned that the GOP currently holds the narrowest House majority since 1963, overlooking President-elect Trump’s explicit support of Mike Johnson, as well as the fact that, back in November, the Republican caucus voted unanimously to back Johnson for another term as Speaker, on Friday, Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Ralph Norman of South Carolina, and freshman representative Keith Self of Texas thought it would be appropriate to make a point.

I’m still not sure what that point was.
