"Those protesters out in the street, they have a point. A lot of innocent people are being killed on both sides."
— Lame duck President Joe Biden, addressing the Democratic National Convention on Monday night (or was it early Tuesday morning?)
Okay, so, let's start with the protesters.
On Tuesday, at least four people were arrested out of a crowd of about 250 anti-Israel protesters, outside the building that houses the Jewish state's consulate in Chicago.
The demonstration was organized by a group calling itself Behind Enemy Lines, whose online promotion of the event encouraged protesters to "Make it great like '68," referring to the violent clashes between cops and protesters at the 1968 DNC.
So, it would appear that, maybe, the actual motivation behind the protest might have been more about some weird nostalgia, rather than any real concern over the situation in the Middle East.
There have been larger gatherings, including one of about 3,000 on Monday night and, last night, a crowd of about 600 formed in Union Park before marching toward the United Center. Along the way, they welcomed another 400 or so knuckleheads into the ranks.
Anyway, in addition to the DNC, Chicago is also playing host this week to lots of other clueless anti-Israel protesters shouting more uni-directional calls for Israel to forgive and forget the atrocities of October 7.
No mention of the hostages who've been held for 320 days, or those who've died in Hamas captivity.
Not a peep about Hezbollah's continued attacks against civilian targets in northern Israel, which began on October 8, and have prevented more than 100,000 Israeli citizens from returning to their homes.
Does none of that qualify as a humanitarian crisis?
